Book One New Pen Name – Published

It’s done and published. Phew.

I’m happy with the end result and confident that most readers will like the story. But the real test is whether it sells.

So far…

Sales are mediocre. It’s not terrible, but it’s not great. It debuted at >150,000 which is horrendous. I haven’t launched something at that ranking in a long time. After a little tweaking (blurb, look inside, keywords), the ranking has improved to ~15,000.

Not great, but still an improvement. It’s not all that surprising since the book’s on a brand new pen name with no following, and I haven’t done any marketing with it yet. No Facebook/Instagram/Twitter/ads/nothing.

I have two newsletter promos that will hit in a little bit, and I’ll be sending out a few ARCs.

After that, I’m not going to touch the book. It will either sink or swim, but I’m moving on to my next book. It’s already done, but it just needs to go through a round of revisions and then edits.

I’m excited about it because it’s a much more marketable book in a popular niche, so it should do a bit better. And by the time it launches, this pen name should have a bit of a mailing list to help.

I’ll have post a more detailed writeup once all the promos hit. Things I learned/things to do better.

On to the next!
