I finished the rewrites for the serial I’m turning into a novel. It started at ~40k words and ended up around 60K words. It’s a whole lot better than it was in serial form. The characters are more developed. There’s a richer backstory. I like it, but I won’t find out until next week if readers do too.
Right now I’m working on line edits. It shouldn’t take too long, but I want to make sure there isn’t a single typo in the entire document. Zero. There’s no excuse, especially now that I’m taking this whole writing gig seriously.
I want to keep the typo/grammar reviews to a minimum. Although… I’m pretty sure some people add those complaints to their reviews no matter how well the book is edited. I’ve read books that have zero editing issues but still have reviews with someone mentioning grammar issues or typos.
(Not every sentence has to be complete. Fragments are pretty cool sometimes.)
Anyway…
The cover’s finished. It looks great. Much, much better than the one I made for it a few years ago. The blurb is snappier, but I’m not quite sure if I’ve nailed it yet. It’s enticing, but it may not reveal the plot/tropes well enough.
I think it works. I actually like it. But will potential readers be interested enough to buy it? I’m not sure.
I’m going to launch it on a completely new pen name. New book. New start. It’s been a while since I’ve published anything, and I’m excited to get back into.
Back to edits…
